As of about 10am the vast majority of the lake was ice free and I declared ice-out. Its raining like crazy and the winds blowing a steady 30 but the boat ramp dock is in the water and whenever the weather clears later this week the annual spring ritual of dock installation will begin. In case anyone really cares, dock installation is by far and away my least favorite thing to do on this planet. I would much rather plunge clogged toilets, unplug sewer lines or even clean out the fish gut tank than put in docks. Words to the wise....see me putting in docks?? Either stay far away or be prepared to don a set of waiters and experience the joy firsthand:) An a brighter note, I gave up on Mother Nature thawing out the water lines so tomorrow morning they will be forced open via hot water jets. The water system will be functional by this weekend and well be officially open for business. What a difference a year makes. This time last year we were still plowing snow!!!
