As of early last week, the number of children requiring assistance - TopicsExpress

As of early last week, the number of children requiring assistance increased more than 400%. We are able to handle the case work but have fallen far behind on sorting, inspecting and managing donations as well as with administrative work. The volunteers in the front and back are overwhelmed, they desperately need assistance. Regardless of the number of volunteers that we have, it is imperative that we hire at least three part-time staff members from now until February 1st. Sadly we do not have the funds required for this necessary expense. The cost of hiring these staff members will work out to ~$1,200 per month, per employee (hourly rate + required insurance). While grants cover the cost of providing aid, they do not typically cover the costs associated with managing aid, nor employees that are necessary for sustainability. Without adequate staff, we will not be able to continue to provide aid to children during their darkest time. Currently, we are their only hope. Things of My Very Own, Inc. is the only organization that operates on a 24/7 basis and provides aid to children within four hours of contact (Current Average: 22 minutes). The organization and our volunteers have won awards for their service which include but are not limited to: The Lifetime Achievement Award from President Obama, being named 1 of the Top 300 innovative social-welfare organizations globally (Echoing Green), The Children and Families Opportunity Project of the Year Award (Senator Hugh Farley) and many more. As illustrious as these achievements are, they will mean nothing if we are unable to continually serve these children. We humbly ask that you consider donating towards the cost of hiring three part-time seasonal employees. Together, we can continue our mission of teaching these children that what they have endured, does not define who they grow up to be. Donations may be made online at tomvo.org or mailed to: Things of My Very Own, Inc. 243-249 Green Street Schenectady, NY 12305 I thank you in advance for your generosity. Together, we can make a difference. Respectfully, Rayn Boncie CEO/Founder Things of My Very Own, Inc.
