As of mid-August, the budding sunflowers near the Izumo Enmusubi Airport began to unfurl their butter-yellow petals and reveal their bright faces. Here, around 400,000 sunflowers are now in full bloom and the expansive 5.3 hectare field has become quite a breathtaking spot for picture taking. So come check out the sea of yellow in Hikawa town’s Okisu district. Just head toward the airport–you can’t miss it! The flowers are expected to be at their peak until early September. And in October, the seeds will be harvested and pressed to make locally-produced cooking oil.
