As of today my request to be added to the Concerned Citizens of Davidson County has been ignored. The group has a few administrators among them a couple of County Commissioners. I cannot help but wonder if the following conversation the group had about the letter I mailed at the beginning of November is why they refuse to add me. I am posting this because it is important for everyone to know that these animal advocates are opposed to helping the shelter. Their sole intent is action against the administrator. Why else would they even question the intent of my letter? (A picture of it is included in the conversation.) It is a real shame these people dont use their time productively volunteering at the animal shelter. They certainly invested much of it in this conversation. Please note the County Commissioners involved and the fact that ALL OF THE ALLEGATIONS REGARDING MY LETTER ARE FALSE. I am chopping this up into sections due to the size restrictions by FB of 10,000 words. Begin quote Part 1: Paula Walton Barkley November 7 at 3:58pm It has come to my attention that volunteers and those that donated items to the Davidson County Shelter are receiving letters from Rachel Feldman. The only way Ms. Feldman couldve received those addresses is from a Shelter employee. To share personal addresses without permission of the individual is a very serious and potentially criminal breach of privacy. If you receive one of these letters, I strongly urge you to contact the Davidson County District Attorney, Charles Frye at (336) 236-3084, Fax: (336) 248-8440 and the Davidson County Manager, Robert Hyatt at (336) 242-2200, Fax (336) 248-8440. Provide by fax a copy of the letter and express concern that your personal privacy has been breached by a county agency. Take all steps necessary to protect your private and personal information. November 7 at 9:34pm · Like Joann Ireland Why would our shelter be giving out people mailing address November 7 at 9:36pm · Like · 3 Kathy Clemmons My bad, thats a winston zip November 7 at 9:45pm · Like Steve Shell My concern is and has always been about the animals and improvements to the animal shelter which make our shelter a role model for all other shelters. It is quite disturbing that personal interest could serve to discourage future contributors from donating to help our animals via the shelter.. Funny the timing on this considering that we now are just three days PAST THE ELECTION. This type of disrespect and contempt only fuels my fire and my commitment to bring the shelter under the control of the CCs. Even if the contract with the coalition is approved, then within the contract is direct accountability to the CCs who may inspect the records, inspect the facility and remove the coalition for any cause. After talking to many people, both related directly and indirectly with the shelter problems, to the last person, they have expressed their expectation for the CCs to fix any problem to the best of our ability. That ability, I believe, lies in the integrity of each CC to address even the most difficult challenges in the focus of remedy verses appeasement. I think Fred Mcclure brought a very good option, in the coalition, to the table which I support 100%. The CCs endorsed moving forward with negotiations 6-1. Nothing has changed which would cause me to change my mind. To the contrary, I have seen numbers presented, via our departmental study, that causes me to support it even stronger. November 7 at 10:47pm · Like · 13 Kathy Clemmons Steve Shell from the looks of the above letter, the CCs better get control quick. Feldman and somebody at the shelter has definitely stepped out of bounds on this move. November 7 at 11:00pm · Like · 7 Steve Shell Doesnt look good on anyone does it Kathy? I agree, this demonstrates another good reason why someone has to be in control of what comes out of that shelter be it privileged information, misinformation or live verses dead animals. Where should the accountability lie? In department heads or your elected representatives? I think most of you spoke Tuesday of where that responsibility should be placed. I accepted that responsibility and Im not willing to pass it off to someone else. Yes we may delegate authority but the responsibility is shouldered by the elected. The people should be able to have confidence in those they choose to represent them. When its broke and in need of fixing is when you will see those who run and hide compared to those tough and dedicated enough to step up to the plate. November 7 at 11:28pm · Edited · Like · 9 Linda Helton Murphey My concern continues to be for the precious animals who have ended up at that shelter and will be so until the current director is gone. Based on behavior witnessed at the meeting last Tuesday night and the letter that has now been sent out, thus compromising the identities of volunteers and contributors, I fear that desperate individuals may take their venom out on these innocent babies. Steve Shell, Fred McClure and other commissioners, please protect them!!! November 7 at 11:34pm · Like · 7 Steve Shell I am working hard to do just that Linda.
