As one evaluates the environment on earth, one is likely to notice a lot of open space. For example, driving through the desert one may only notice dirt, cactus, and weeds. An idea may come that all of this open space is prime for development. Housing may not be affordable for a single family; why not build an affordable home in the desert? As our population continues to increase, the constant is that there needs to be a place to put all of these people. In doing so, we are destroying the habitat of those who already live in these environments and depleting our own resources in the process. We constantly hear about the rain forests being destroyed by humans and how in doing so we are eliminating trees and other key resources for human benefit. This does not happen in isolated environments, rather it happens at a global level because there is a global trend of population growth. The human way is to make a path regardless of what is being destroyed in that path. Humans are adamant about making the environment suitable. In doing so, we show a blatant disregard for what was there first.
