As one passes through the narrow and paved streets of Vigan, the hands of history is everywhere, with the imposing monuments, status, historical landmarks and inscriptions that reminds us untiringly of our Heritage. Vigan is widely known for its well preserved Ancestral houses that are made of bricks and a mixture of adobe and egg white. It is inscribed as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites because of its unique Spanish Colonial History. Vigan Citys structural design is a fusion of Asian building design and construction with European Colonial architecture and planning. Ciudad Fernandina de Vigan was an important coastal trading post and center of the Roman Catholic Religion which nourished the citys culture and tradition. It is a place where festivities are held like the Binatbatan, Longganisa and Raniag Twilight Festival. It is also a place where history and modernity meet. Vigan is a manifestation of a living and breathing museum that houses Colonial abodes and historical landmarks that were preserved because of the Bigueños who fought and sacrificed their lives to protect and conserve their unique cultural heritage and patrimony. If the Bigueños fought for the preservation of the place before, now is our time to fight for worldwide recognition.
