As one who enthusiastically supported the election of President Obama with considerable hard cash, I have determined by an examination of the evidence that he is, and always has been, a Trojan Horse, a Reagan Republican dressed in the coat of a donkey, knowing full well that he had to appear liberal to gain any significant minority votes. Throughout his campaign, he channeled Ronald Reagan, not FDR. The only legislation he has passed ha been modeled on Republican initiatives or shaped by congressional Republicans in the name of bipartisanship. While he has courted Hispanics, women and GLBTs, he has failed to institute a single initiative designed specifically to improve the plight of Blacks in the country. Even though he is Black, he identifies as his grandfather, a white Kansan, and particularly ignores the issues of racial profiling, voter suppression and union and public worker denigration. To float the nomination of Ray Kelly for the highest police office in government, in face of Kelly being personally responsible for the profiling of 500,000 Black a year in New York City, is the ultimate insult to Blacks and Hispanics, and the perfect way to insure that the profiling and suppression of Blacks illustrated in the Travon Martin case will become a national pandemic. I urge you to call the White House(202-456-1111), and call your senators (202-224-3121), and let them know that this nomination must be stopped at all costs. Not only will I call and fax them all, but also the NAACP, the Urban League, La Raza, and the Congressional Black Caucus.
