As our competition season has come to a close I am reminded of my own story to help dancers (and parents) understand the outcome of auditions and competition. Lets say that you (dancer) are a Golden Delicious apple. You are nicely shaped and have just the right amount of crispness. You are juicy & sweet! You are probably one of the most delicious apples of your kind. BUT YOU DONT WIN! Whaaaaaat? Are those judges crazy? Are they blind? Did you get robbed? Whats going on? Well Ill tell you! That set of judges is partial to McIntosh and Granny Smith apples! They prefer their apples to be a little tart. ;-) So you, my sweet Golden Delicious, did not stand a chance! ......even if you danced your very best! On the other hand.....Heaven forbid.......but perhaps there is another Golden Delicious Apple just a bit more delicious than you. Proud of our applesauce......Miss Tracy, Debbie, Alex, Amy, Anita, Shelby, LaDonna & Mr. Rusty ......How do you like them apples? ;-)
