As per Jim Holts request. Here are a few pics of the work Ive done to the Vietnamese helmet. The white is untouched so you can see the difference. The first thing I do is take the binding off. Step 2, cut off the point in the front to round it off. Also, I trim the side a little. Step 3, I take the sweat band and rig out. Sep 4, I steam the helmet and put it in a form to reshape it. When dry step 5, replace the binding. Step 6, replace with proper leather sweat band (stitched in place). Step 7, put brass hooks for chin strap. I make a khaki cover custom fitted to the helmet. I can make the 4 panel or 6 panel and the cover with the built in neck cutting.
