As per the council website: "In 2011/12, crime rates in Greater Dandenong were 37% higher than metropolitan Melbourne for overall offences, 99% higher for drug offences and 70% higher for violent offences. Local rates of violent offences were the highest in Melbourne (outside the CBD), and have risen by 56% since 2004/5. Police callouts to family violence incidents are currently 90% higher than for metropolitan Melbourne and the second highest in Melbourne."
