As promised, these are daylight photos of the new cedar shake shingle roof. Notice from the first photo of the front view angle the period blow over shingles at the roof ridge. The second image is from the back of the building. The third is from the chimney side. Again, a good image showing the ridge blow over shingles. This was the way roofs were done back in the era as ridge caps were not available so the final run would extend above the ridge to run water away from the roof, and usually placed on the north side to cause snow to blow over the ridge in high winds. The fourth shows another back and chimney side view. Notice the cool copper flashing hoods placed over the doors and windows. The copper will soon tarnish to a blue-green patina, and these hoods prevent water drip/run down from rotting out the casing of the doors and windows.
