As reported, Dodgers team president Andrew Friedman and general manager Farhan Zaidi made it clear that one or two outfielders other than Puig will be traded in the off-season. The 2 front runners on being dealt are Ethier and Crawford with Kemp being the back end of a trade IF the offer is a good return. Dodgers officials have let teams know they are willing to kick in cash or take a problematic contract back to facilitate a trade. For example, the Dodgers are looking for a veteran back-end-of-the-rotation piece, so they could counteract some of the cash by trading Ethier or Crawford to the White Sox for John Danks (owed $28.5 million the next two years) or to the Orioles for Ubaldo Jimenez (owed $37.75 million over the next three years). They also would love to clear out enough space so Joc Pederson, who had 33 homers and a 1.017 OPS at Triple-A, will start in center. In the best situation, the Dodgers probably would have Kemp in left and would have found a way to trade Ethier and Crawford, since they have lefty masher Scott Van Slyke in reserve, too. The Dodgers are also looking for the rotation piece to solidify their bullpen around closer Kenley Jansen. In addition, they are among the more interested clubs in catcher Russell Martin. A feeling has grown, though, that Martin is in such high demand that he will certainly get a four-year contract and it might take a fifth season to secure the catcher.
