As some of you know, my daughter has been accepted to attend Saint Louis University. Our entire family is very excited about this as SLU was her first choice and Im thrilled to have her stay close for awhile. Some of you also know that it was important to us because we are hoping for her to also be accepted into Medical School at SLU. While now she is leaning toward majoring in Neuroscience, she plans to eventually become a Pathologist...as in performing autopsies and all that jazz. Since the holiday break she is back in her current college anatomy class. They have started learning about the muscles this week. Today they began the tedious job of studying the muscular system while doing their first dissections. There are only 7 students in this class and it is Lizzys favorite class. The instructor is a Farmington R7 staff member and she is a VERY high quality teacher. I have nothing but the kindest of words to say about the instruction she provides to her students. This teacher, in my opinion, along with her husband, are themselves SLU quality instructors in their own right. As the students are beginning their dissections this week learning about muscles, I sadly have to say they are dissecting cats! They will be dissecting a total of 3 cats each! These cats were undoubtedly victims of Animal Control situations. Of course the cats are shipped from out of state...they did not come from this area! It still makes me sad. I would rather them dissect humans. At least that would be voluntary! Spay and neuter your cats please! Poor kitties! PS...the instructor talked to the students yesterday about the value of life and the respect that they must have for the kitties who died so they could learn. Lizzy loved the assignment today...although she also is sad for the cats. 😿😹
