The Irish capital, Dublin is home to over one quarter of the total population. Other Irish cities of note include Cork, Limerick and Galway. The world famous Guinness beer is from Ireland, it originated in the Dublin brewery of Arthur Guinness. At the Olympics, boxing is Irelands most successful sport. Shamrock (type of clover) is the national symbol of Ireland and along with the harp it is a registered trademark of the country. Autism is one of the most common developmental disabilities in Ireland. Autism is life-long and the exact cause is still being investigated. At present there is no known cure for Autism; however, there are a range of interventions that can help individuals reach their full potential. Rates of children being diagnosed have quadrupled since 2002. Autism affects four times more males than females. Around 25% of individuals with Autism have an accompanying Learning Disability. Autism is not a rare disability. The numbers of individuals with ASD now exceed the combined numbers of those with Down’s syndrome, Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis.
