As the annual Braemar Gathering approaches, Police Scotland is reminding the public of parking and traffic restrictions that will be in place during the event. The Braemar Gathering is held on the first Saturday of September and this year will fall on 6 September. Due to the volume of visitors expected, the roads are expected to be busy. There will be a temporary restriction of traffic (one way system) on Cluniebank Road, from Cuniebank Lodge to Frasers Bridge to allow for the safe passage of vehicles to and from the event car parks to the south of the village. This restriction will be in place from 7pm on Friday 5 September to 7pm on Saturday 6 September. The one way system will operate for northbound vehicles and no vehicles will be permitted to travel southbound on Cluniebank Road. Southbound vehicles will be diverted via the Mar Road, A93 Glenshee Road to Frasers Bridge, then north on the single track road that leads to Cluniebank Road. At a time that will be determined by the Police, depending on the capacity of car parking, this one way system will be reversed with traffic then travelling southbound. No vehicle will be permitted to enter the single track road or Cluniebank Road and travel northbound. All vehicles will be diverted via the A93 to Braemar, Mar Road and then Cluniebank Road. There will also be a temporary prohibition of waiting restriction in place on the A93, Invercauld Road and Mar Road, Braemar. Motorists are reminded that illegally parked vehicles are likely to be removed.
