As the conflict goes on into its 4th week we want to share the translation of a prayer by Rabbi Yoram Mazor which is recited in many of Israels reform congregations.- The translation does not do justice to the beauty of the Hebrew but it should give you an idea of what all of us here and you are friends are feeling: A Prayer for Days of War / Rabbi Yehoram Mazor- Our G-d who blessed our fathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and our mothers Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah, may you bless the soldiers of the Israeli Defense Forces and all other protectors of our people who are standing their guard. Keep them and protect them from any harm and trouble and bless all that they do, Hear their and our prayers and deliver them from evil. Send your blessing upon your people, ruler of the Universe, to worrying mothers and aching fathers, to citizens exiled from their homes and to children who have ceased from their play. Protect in your mercy children sitting in shelters. May you remember us and deliver us, your mercy shall guide us, for it is in you we have placed our trust. Please, oh merciful God, may you have mercy on us, remember your covenant with Abraham our father your friend and spread out your shelter of peace upon the seed of Ismael ben Hagar and on the sons and daughters of Isaac ben Sarah, and may your words be delivered by us, as it is said: For as the seed of peace, the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her sustenance, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things… and ye shall be a blessing; fear not… (Zachariah, 8).
