As the last day at school in the Baruch auditorium at NDU’s - TopicsExpress

As the last day at school in the Baruch auditorium at NDU’s Eisenhower School approaches tomorrow with an awards ceremony, I just have to let everyone know how bittersweet this is for me. As a civilian in a Senior Service College, I didn’t know what I was getting into and was so terrified the first few weeks (thank you government shut-down) that I almost didn’t make it. This year at school I have been so fortunate to meet some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met, challenge myself professionally (the more you know-the more you realize the more you don’t know) and personally (turns out I can run and play sports if I just try hard enough.) For my friends and family thank you for being there whenever I needed a phone call. For the AM workout buddies and inspiring women who wouldn’t let me stop running…I’ll never forget the fire you found inside me to get me going when I was terrified. For the folks who told me I talk too fast, in public and in private, thanks for reminding me that sometimes you just can’t rush a good thing. (Especially if it’s a question to a 4-star, or “other stuff.”) And for the military officers who I sat next to who had to explain every single acronym day in and day out while still trying to learn... I’m not sure I remembered much of it, but it made me feel included. Lastly, for some of the faculty who will never know how much they impacted my life. When “they,” say it’s the best year of your life---I believe it. It’s also been incredibly hard. Thank you all! I will be so thankful to graduate this week, but am going to miss all my new friends more than I can ever imagine. Thanks to all my friends who have served in the military and endured countless moves and to their families who support them. I have never had a greater appreciation in my life for what you all do and the professionalism you exert while doing it. NDU Classmates, thanks for a great year! Now let’s have a great week. XOXO
