As the mom to a puppy mill survivor that just celebrated 3 years - TopicsExpress

As the mom to a puppy mill survivor that just celebrated 3 years out I really get it. I am reminded daily, first hand what puppy mills can do to an inherently social animal. Living through these last 3 years and watching her grow, often taking two steps forward and one back, learning to love and trust at least one person completely. It took two months to even touch my girl with my bare hand, she would be swaddled for hours in a blanket and held until she no longer shook. I remember kicking myself for putting an island in the kitchen near our back door, chasing her round and round to go out to potty or to just catch her to hold and reassure her. She is loved with our whole hearts. She was the rock to our older Jack Russel as he faded away with Alzheimers and liver failure. She has nurtured foster pups. She is a constant comfort and protector to our 15 year old Schnoodle in kidney failure. She is a true cohort in crime and protector to our mischievous LRD. Yes she had interested adopters along the way but never one that felt a safe place for her to go. She will never leave, she is a foster failure not because she couldnt eventually find a home but because she did find a home, WITH US. PLEASE ADOPT, be a part of the solution. A puppy mill survivor like our Boston Terrier Faye is not for everyone but every shelter dog is not a Faye. The majority of shelter dogs end up in shelters through no fault of their own. nodogaboutit.wordpress/2014/11/24/adopting-maggie-you-need-to-understand-what-is-involved/
