Wow, who could have foreseen that? Now, instead of reversing course on the law, stand back and watch as pundits and scholars explain the many and complicated forces at work in the housing and job market – while ignoring the interviews of the youths that expose the problem. Sometimes the greatest truths really are the simplest; the most obvious explanations actually expose the real cause. It isn’t the well-balanced and productive member of Colorado society that those of us opposed to legalization were worried about – it has always been about those who tended toward irresponsibility in the first place. The broad legalization will only assist them in becoming long term victims of their own irresponsible behavior. On the other hand, this will offer an entire new phenomenon for otherwise intelligent people to explain away.
