As the snow lightly dusted Denton County this morning, Officer Ryan Grelle, spokesman for Denton police, said south bound Interstate 35 was moving slowly. By 8:30, minor accidents were already being reported. Lonny Haschel, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety, is asking motorists to allow extra length between themselves and the motorist in front of them. Haschel said all motorists should drive with extra caution while driving in general, but especially on bridges and overpasses. No Denton County schools reported closures though some parents on Facebook were reporting slippery side roads as they dropped off youngsters. Several indicated they planned to keep their children home. Mid-morning temperatures in northern Denton County hovered near the 15 degree Fahrenheit mark with north winds at 10 miles per hour creating a wind chill of 3 degrees Fahrenheit. Forecasters expect about a half-inch of accumulation by noon with a 20 percent chance of snow later this evening and a slight chance for flurries early Friday.
