As this 2012 documentary showed, the torture and slaughter of Iraqi civilians by extremist Shiite militias affiliated to the Tehran- and US-backed Iraqi regime has been endemic for some time – it is still continuing, in Iraq and in Syria. At that stage, it was estimated that up to 655,000 had been killed in Iraq. Many more have been killed since; these are not ISIS terrorists (which did not even exist at that time), but civilians – men, women and children. This was largely unreported and unremarked in Western mainstream or ‘alternative’ media. The slaughter and the silence are both continuing. Night after night death squads rampage through Iraqs main cities. In Baghdad, up to a hundred bodies a day are dumped on the streets. Often theyve been tortured with electric drills. Yet those doing the killing have nothing to do with al Qaeda or Sunni insurgents. The majority of the killings are carried out by Shiite death squads who want to turn Iraq into a Shia state aligned to Iran, an objective supported by Washington. This shocking film investigates the links between the death squads and high-ranking Shia politicians. It reveals how the Shia militia that these politicians control have systematically infiltrated and taken over police units and even entire government ministeries. It investigates how these units are closely linked to the death squads, indeed they often are the death squads. And the killers act with impunity - theres little investigation into their activities; watch this and.you will get an idea of why the ISIL was formed and why there is a minority of support, however misplaced, for its terrorism in the face of the Iraqi state’s internationally approved state terrorism.
