As transwoman who has been arrested twice and thrown in jail for no other reason than being trans I can very much relate to this story that my friend Gretchen Rachel Blickensderfer broke last week. The level of fear and harassment from society, police and our local governments is all to real. I was fortunate enough to be able to have good attorneys who fought to get me out of jail and stand up to the injustice I had to go through. However that is not the case for a lot of transwoman who can not afford attornies and are sitting in our local jails here in Chicago. Where there only crime is being trans with zero respect from our law enforcement. Casted aside and not viewed as human.
