As us Americans prepare for the #BlackFriday festivities, I guess Ill just say, maybe just give a moment of pause before you scarf up another electronics or mobile device, and ask yourself Do I really NEED this? Or How much could I gain from going on that trip I always talk about, but can never afford because Im always just buying new THINGS? Because the reality is, those THINGS, consumed like toilet paper and discarded, cause ripples around the world in places few of us have ever heard about. Im trying to not be hypocritical here, and I get more enjoyment on my phone (travelers dilemma of knowing more people elsewhere than at home) than I do knowing mountain gorillas are alive in the wilds... but STUFF, THINGS & SNEEDS, how much of them do we really NEED? This movie isnt just about the gorillas, nor the OIL that it highlights, this area of the DRC, Uganda, Rwanda & Burundi is plagued with warfare for control & exploitation of rare earth minerals, most critical in mobile devices. It is available now on Netflix, and outside the beautiful imagery, its worth the 2 hours it takes to watch.
