As we all know, the Russians and Ukrainians have been having a conflict now for nearly three months and it is beginning to get out of hand. What seemed to begin as just a civil war in February has suddenly turned into an intervention campaign in March as Russian forces broke their treaty with Ukraine and invaded Crimea, and has immediately turned into a full on invasion and thirst for conquest by Russian forces as they invaded Eastern Ukraine, taking several key locations. Vladimir Putin and their reasons for attacking the nation was in self defense and to defend Russian minorities within the nation. Although Ukrainian far left members have claimed this is true and have even taken up arms in support of Russia in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine, there is so far no evidence whatsoever that this is the case. Finland informed us that Russia plans to remake the former Russian Empire, Putin wishing to do this by any means possible. Belarus has already been completely occupied by Russian troops and their president does not seem to have any problem with it, leading most people to come to the conclusion that Vladimir Putins goal is indeed conquest. Putin also claims his goal was to kill off Ukrainian fascists from the far right in Eastern Ukraine. Although my Ukrainian contact has informed me there are in fact far right militiamen in Ukraine, and they do in fact support Ukrainian liberation, this of course does not justify Russian invasion. On top of that, over 300 civilians have been slaughter, shot, beaten, raped, and killed in the Ukraine so far by Russian forces in cold blood. As a result, 117 nations worldwide have either condemned Russia for its acts or cut off all relations and ties to it entirely. To add insult to injury, Russia claims the west is cowardly and would never fight back, that he could step all over them as he pleased. So far, NATO and the UN have proven him correct. The only nations that seem prepared for a conflict with Russia are Canada, the United States, Ukraine, Lithuania, and Poland as every other nation has refused to help the Ukraine in any fashion at all or have ignored it as though it would go away. The world stands at the tension level as seen before the beginning of World War I and Russia threatens total war with the Ukraine, Putin himself threatening to allow his troops to kill even more civilians should any nation intervene. The American president and Canadian prime minister are two of the most outraged people of this due to Putin calling both via phone and personally threatening Canada and the United States with total war. The Russian nation is totally out of control. And even as Russians protest against their own leader, they are being shot on sight in Moscow, proving out that Putin will stop at nothing to get what he wants.
