As we approach the Super Bowl and all the nonsense surrounding the - TopicsExpress

As we approach the Super Bowl and all the nonsense surrounding the game, I read an article today, an interview with Chris Berman of ESPN, which really defines nonsense (actually stupidity). It is a chapter out of the did he really say that? book. Berman will host the endless coverage of the Super Bowl on ESPN this weekend and he grew up in the New York area so he is really excited about being involved in this years Super Bowl hosted in the NJ Meadowlands. I have mentioned him in the past as sitting in the same Broadcast Journalism class with John Sterling and Lonnie Quinn (the professor was probably Howard Cosell; not a fact, just a guess). The class is Its all about me - not the Event, 101. The quote in the story/interview with Berman was, I just hope the weather (at the Super Bowl) doesnt become story A and B and the game C . For those of you not familiar with the bombastic Berman he likes to assign creative names to ballplayers when recapping games. Here are a couple of his well known nicknames (they are on the internet, but I am sure when he came up with them he had no intention of drawing attention to himself rather than the game). Lets start with Rollie Chicken Fingers. Then there is Darryl Strawberry Shortcake. How about the popular Albert Winnie the Pujos? And my personal favorite Scott Supercalifragilisticexpiali Brosius. If the weather wasnt ideal for the Super Bowl would Berman find himself a secondary player to, say a weather person (Lonnie Quinn maybe) who can overshadow Bermans quest for attention. So would Berman then find himself story D? He will have flunked Professor Cosells class. For Bermans sake and personal brand building, lets pray for good weather.
