As we approach this holiday season, the reality of our new normal is setting in more and more. Even though this is our second holiday season without Hannah, it seems like the first because last year I was still in such a fog, with an overwhelming feeling of shock and disbelief. Last year at this time I was spending an extended period of time down in Florida with my parents…a much needed respite. This year were home and well be hosting Thanksgiving for the entire Funck family (plus David LOL), and Im really looking forward to a day of food, family and lots of laughs. Its very important to us to always include Hannah as we celebrate the holidays…it will never be the same, but we can move on with her in our hearts. So, with that said, this year will start one of our new traditions. We will now have two Christmas trees…Hannahs special tree, which will sit prominently in the living room and then another tree for Santa in the family room. I bought a beautiful tree for Hannah and started decorating it with ornaments that remind me of her…its very peaceful to sit in the living room with just the lights of the tree on. Starting this year, we will have Hannahs tree set up in time for Thanksgiving…a simple way to have her with us on a day to be thankful for the blessings in our lives. With the start of our new tradition, we would love to add ornaments from family and friends. It can be anything that reminds you of Hannah…silly or sweet, handmade or bought…nothing extravagant, just a memory of our girl...
