As we celebrate breast cancer awareness month, I would like you to meet After Breast Cancers ambassador AMANDA GINGRICH In her own words... “Stay positive. It’s the only way.” At just 33, Amanda Gingrich has had cancer for so many years and in so many parts of her body, it’s hard to separate her from her diagnosis. “They say cancer doesn’t define you,” she says, softly. “But it’s defined me.” First diagnosed with breast cancer at 24, it’s since spread to her brain, throat, reproductive organs, lungs, bones, liver, kidneys and eyes. And yet, she’s defiantly, proudly and determinedly a survivor: nine years, several surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy treatments later, she says her cancer may define her lifestyle, but her terminal diagnosis does not. “There are times I get upset, but I don’t do the ‘why me’ thing. I’m strong because I have no choice. I have my daughter to live for. Doing things like this photo shoot helped my outlook – I want to get up and dressed every day,” she notes. “At the end of the day, Im happy because Im still here. I may be dying – but I’m still living.” #Fun #loving #kiind #givingback #Afterbreastcancer #breastcancer #cancersucks #sisterhood #breastcancerawearness #toronto #SHEproject
