As we farewell El Questro Station and head west along the Gibb to our next stop, Home Valley Station (HV8 ..no, I dont know either, and neither do they, duh). This property is owned by the Aboriginal Land Council, or something like that, and is used as a training facility for indigenous people in various trades. Read... lots of Federal funding. I must say, it does have a great swimming pool which was like a magnet to all of us old folks in the heat. More popular than Happy Hour, even!!! The main water feature, apart from the Penticost River here is Bindoola Falls and gorge. Unfortunately, it dries up and stops flowing fairly quickly after the wet season, still, well worth a look. Bindoola Creek flows down behind the homestead and main camping area and into the Penticost near the riverside camping area which has wonderful views over the Cockburn (pronounced Coburn for some obscure reason...)Ranges. Too close to the snapping handbags for my liking though and too far from the pool and coffee....lol. We did a landbased guided fishing trip one morning for barra, but to no avail, fish-wise. Had fun though. There was also nightly entertainment in the eating hall here, but she wasnt a patch on Chris Matthews at ELQ. Pics attached are of Bindoola Falls(dry) and gorge and the Cockburn Ranges.
