As we head into this new week we are bound to encounter a few people in their weakness. We all have weaknesses and they usually show up when we are under stress or carrying a heavy load. Weakness manifests lots of different ways: you may have a disorganized child, a forgetful spouse, a boss who ignores important problems, or a friend who always runs late. All to often we find ourselves irritated or frustrated when we see peoples weakness. That is because we are taking the wrong perspective. We need to realize that the revelation of someones weakness, is the revelation of where we can best serve them. In Exodus 17:3-8 we see Israel being attacked by the Amalekites, Joshua fighting them and Moses standing on top of the hill holding the staff of God over the battle. As Moses held it high Joshua prevailed, as his hands fell, the Amalekites advanced. At some point Moses became weak and found it difficult to hold up the staff. This is when Aaron and Hur came along side Moses and held up his hands. The served Moses in his point of weakness. Because of what they did, Joshua, and all Israel, prevailed over the Amalekites. This week we will all have the same opportunity that Aaron and Hur had. We will see someone at their point of weakness and our coming along side them, to serve them and be a strength to them, could mean the different between their failure and success.
