As we mourn the loss of a dear friend taken from this life far too soon, I cannot help but have flashbacks of my father who also suffered from, and ultimately succumbed to cancer. This song strikes the very heart of me. Through treatment after treatment, the loss of limbs and control of the life he once knew, my father, like Shonda showed strength and courage as they each maintained their dignity while leaving such a legacy of memories and loved ones behind to carry on their names as we carry them forward within our hearts. Shonda, you shall not be forgotten. You loved fully and sincerely. That love continues. We celebrate you. We hurt over the loss of you. We send you forth to the Heavens having been forever changed by such memories shared in this life.
