As we move towards our district and NDGOP convention in April it is time to start discussions on why I am the right candidate for all North Dakotans to elect to serve our state in Washington, DC. I will start out with this reason, and although important to me, it may not be to you, and since you are the ones I have to represent it is your decision. I will always listen to everyone, and make the decision the majority of our residents want. On Jan 24th of this year it will be 10 years since my brother was KIA in Iraq....I also am a veteran, and believe that without veterans representing us, we will continue to downgrade our military and the safety of our nation, as well as not give the treatment to our service members that they should have...This goes for benefits, VA Hospitals, treatment for PTSD along with many other issues. We can do better, and if we do not we will have less people entering the service, and may be forced to a draft down the road..I do not want to see that happen..I want to see the true American hero enlist of his own accord, to fight for a free and safe America. I will never send your son/daughter, mom or dad to war unless our nation is in extreme danger... With the technology of today wars may be able to be fought from a secure location in many instances. It would be my intention to close some of the non integral bases across the world, keep the ones in area that would help keep the world a little freer from terrorists. This would acccomplish another goal of bringing our troops home, where they could be of service in our border control.. We are already paying them, so why pay a civilian company to do this...Our nation is broke, we have to make Common Sense decisions to save money, use the personnel we have.. Whether or not you are a vet, and believe in what I say please share this...It may be your kids or grandkids next in the service. I would want someone with experience in the military, and mine is not much, but I keep on paying attention and using my judgement to think I would be doing the right thing for our citizens.. Please feel free to comment on this issue, whether it be positive or negative..
