As we peer into societys future, we -- you and I, and our government -- must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering for our own ease and convenience the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow. - Dwight D. Eisenhower ... plundering for our own ease and convenience the precious resources of tomorrow. What statement could more fittingly summarize the actions of our federal government? We, our children, and every following generation is now hopelessly in debt. More than likely, the republic will collapse long before we have any hope of digging ourselves out of the massive fiscal hole our leaders have excavated for our country. They are helplessly drunken with their sense of power and invulnerability. They plunge us further and further in debt and have no concern about the future that they have created for our descendants. We can reward their actions by sending them home to find work. Get out and vote!
