As we prepare for the eurozone summit, I think we ought to be reminding this house of some of the statistics that the politicians, the commissioners and the senior people will be looking at on that day. GDP growth across Europe is 0.1% The share of world GDP is falling year on year on year. Unemployment sits around 11.5% for the peoples of Europe. In countries like Croatia its 17%. 15% in Portugal, In Spain its 23%, Greece its 25%. Thats very good news for those people isnt it, when they know that people will be sitting in large cars drinking champagne and working out how they are going to make their jobs better. (Heckled) ...And I hear one of their supporters over there now. But we ought ot look at Labour costs rising, unemployment rising, private investment falling. I say to you, if it looks like a failure, its a failure. If it smells like a failure, its a failure. But all they will do at this summit is say Ah The Sweet Smell of Success!
