As we salute our flags, march in parades, and spend time with loved ones this Independence Day, we must pause to remember those who fight each and every day to preserve the freedoms and liberties we hold so dear. These heroes and their families sacrifice untold amounts, and we owe them so much more than a few kind words on national holidays. I will enjoy today observing Independence Day with my fellow New Yorkers in the Capital District, and I look forward to returning to Washington to continue our unfinished business to streamline benefits for our current and future veterans.
