As we sat waiting for appointments to materialize I thought about so many different things. I of course thought about all the patients that were there, what is it that God wants to teach them, if anything, by getting their attention in in the form of pain. Are they even aware that God in fact really does teach us important things by allowing us to go through the valley of the shadow of death? But more than all else, are they listening, is their inner person, their spiritual self open to the voice of The Spirit of God? I watch, as I am sure many others watched me, as disciples live life in such a way that it becomes plain that they want nothing in the form of teaching from God. Oh! I remember the time when if things were bad for me I just needed to make things bad for others, misery like company as they say. But you know what, one day I read my Bible. One day I read about Job. One day I saw that sometimes the depth of Gods love for you is sent in the form of near death situations, circumstances that cause you to think death would be a blessing in disguise. And we can be sure of this one thing; God calls people who he loves and those who He sees might come to love Him to endure some very critical things in their lives. And If He loves you and He wants you He will never let up with His shouting at you in the form of painful things. Now I must say this also for it is as true as any other thing you might believe, He knows when you are beginning to love Him by the fact that you are responding to the pain that He has allowed in your life to get your attention. And of course response is simply this; Oh! Lord! Whatever your will is is my will also, and however things are in my life they are there to bring me closer to you and more thankful for everything else that is present in my life! Bless The Lord Oh! My soul!
