As we tentatively approach Christmas Eady is having good and bad - TopicsExpress

As we tentatively approach Christmas Eady is having good and bad days. Just a reminder of how unpredictable her health and behaviour can be. Sunday evening she started Hand mouthing again so no doubt her fingers will be very sore very soon. However as hard as it is having a child with special needs at Christmas it is getting slightly easier. Ok, its still upsetting that Eady cant open any presents. She might not even show any interest in them at all. Its sad that her Christmas dinner will still need to be blended to a purée like a baby and fed to her by either me or Matt. And its very very sad that she isnt running around bouncing of the walls with excitement. The impact all of this has on us as parents is huge and certainly takes the sparkle out of Christmas a bit. But we have moved on from last year and there is hope that this year will be the best yet. Im sure Eady is excited about Christmas. In her own way I think she understands what is going on. We have got her some lovely presents, Mitch is now old enough to be excited so we hope that will rub off on Eady too. For how hard all of this can be, Christmas shouldnt be a time to look at what we havent got. Its a time to be grateful for all the things that are important and remember how fortunate we are. So from today onwards this is my mantra. I have always adored Christmas, the build up, the presents, the food and being with family and friends so I want that back. And with Eady beaming at me this morning I think this year is the year to embrace our new style of christmas.
