As we weave the esoteric systems of both the Yogic path of the Kundalini and the mystical Jewish path of Kabbalah, it is first helpful to have a brief description of the differences in language that point to the universality of Truth. The parallel in Kabbalah to Kundalini is Shekhinah. The Shakti Kundalini initiation is S’micha m’Shefa or Haniha: The void is teheru in Hebrew. Par’gawd in Hebrew is the veil between the worlds, and eyn zu-lo-to in Hebrew means there is Nothing but the One or I AM THAT. Transcending time, space, and Being (I AM consciousness) brings I AM THAT awareness called Self-realization or Liberation – jivanmukti in Yoga, or Chaya-Yehida consciousness in Kabbalah. In the Yogic tradition, the merging of the life force (prana) with the I AM consciousness is referred to as Shakti merging with Shiva in the crown chakra. In Kabbalistic tradition it is Nukba merging with Zeir Anpin. This integration is a pre-condition for and part of the Liberation process. When we go, prior to consciousness, into non-dual awareness (I AM THAT) we more permanently reside in the upper sephirot of Binah (Divine understanding), Chochma (direct knowing), and Keter (Divine will) – or Chaya- Yehida awareness. In Yoga, it is termed jivanmukti, which means Liberated while in the body. This merging takes us beyond the subtle existence of the I AM to the I AM THAT – Paramatman or Ein Sof – which is beyond understanding, comprehension, and description. Complete merging into Paramatman is called moksha – God merging or complete Deveikut in the Kabbalah. Gabriel Cousens, MD Spiritual Nutrition Portals to Liberation begins September 4th! ow.ly/zi8KY
