“As you are going, make disciples of all nations...” Everyone person who has been called by grace (into this living and vital union with Jesus) has been commissioned to fulfill the Lord’s great mission in this world! We must simply comprehend His plan; and then obey the great mission of Jesus. His mission is revealed to us in 3 simple participles. The first participle found in this phrase, “As you are going, be making disciples”! The Lord commands all of us to “DECLARE THE WORD”. We see rebels transformed into disciples, by the “Spirit-infused” declaration the Word of truth! This is exactly how the Gospel of Mark explains the great commission, with the Lord saying, “Go into all the world and PREACH (proclaim-herald) the Gospel to every creature.” Luke’s version of the great commission reveals an outline of the message that we are commanded to declare! Then in Acts 1:8, our Lord puts it in this way, “We will be witnesses unto HIM.” When you put all 4 of these pictures of the great commission together, the Lord Jesus is telling us that. “people are converted from rebel sinners into worshiping saints, through the declaration of the truths concerning the Person of Jesus; the work of Jesus; and the terms of Jesus; when they are mightily applied by the Holy Spirit”! Every born again disciple of Jesus Christ is a resident alien in this fallen world! This is not my home. I am a citizen of another kingdom. I am just temporarily passing through this foreign land. I am left here, to be an ambassador for my Lord and King, from this Heavenly kingdom! I am left on this planet, to represent my Sovereign King; and to make disciples, by declaring the “Word of truth”! Colossians 1:28 says that, “We proclaim HIM...!” Paul testifies in 2 Corinthians 4;5, “We preach not ourselves, but CHRIST JESUS THE LORD...” Every true follower of Jesus is possessed by the Spirit of truth; every true follower of Jesus possesses the “Word of truth”; and we must be faithful to “take opportunities and make opportunities” to declare the truths of the “bad news of man’s terrible problem before Holy God”; and the “Good news of God’s tremendous provision, which is found in the Person and work of His Son”! Oh dear brothers and sisters, we are called and commanded to have a continual “mission mindset” in our lives! Do not be distracted by the physical and the temporary obstacles that “the god of this age” is constantly hurling at our minds! For every authentic disciple is left here in this foreign land, to be a “disciple-making disciple”!
