As you are probably aware, the issue of homelessness in Anchorage - TopicsExpress

As you are probably aware, the issue of homelessness in Anchorage is growing, and creating challenges to the resources currently available in Anchorage. Catholic Social Services’ Brother Francis Shelter is making changes this winter in the way it has been applying entry criteria (see attached), which will have a huge effect on the homeless and, therefore, on the community. We have begun to inform our clients of these changes. Many have voiced concerns about how these changes, as well as the other challenges facing the homeless in Anchorage, will affect them this winter. We will be having a Town Hall on Thursday, September 12, at 2 pm at Brother Francis for more discussion about this. The entire community needs to be involved in this discussion, as well as in working on solutions. Please join us for this initial discussion to hear more about the challenges of homelessness in Anchorage and the concerns of the homeless. This is an open meeting, so please share this invitation with others. Mary Beth Bragiel, SPHR Deputy Director Catholic Social Services
