As you know I am on the Board of Directors of Volunteers for Youth - TopicsExpress

As you know I am on the Board of Directors of Volunteers for Youth in Claremore, OK. I also mentor three students in three different schools, tutor an English Comprehension Class, and I facilitate an ESL class at Claremore High School. This is strictly voluntary. Volunteers for Youth is an organization in Rogers County that is dedicated to being a positive impact on the lives of our youth. We offer mentoring, tutoring, after school programs, a drug-free communities project that works to reduce substance abuse among our youth( with particular emphasis on underage drinking and prescription drug abuse), and a program for troubled juveniles or first offenders to help them avoid the court system. Our mission is to help Rogers County youth to be safe, successful, and become exemplary citizens of the community. This is all done with a small but dedicated staff and a large contingent of the best volunteers I have worked with. Our successes, I humbly say, are extraordinary. We do not receive any federal funds to support our programs. We rely on the generosity of people who believe that every child deserves to live in a positive and supportive environment. Volunteers for Youth is holding its Golf Marathon on July 16, 2013. The Ben/Gus team will play 100 holes of golf in the scorching sun (what? no sympathy?) to help raise funds. I am asking each of you to reach in your pockets and into your hearts (some of you need to pretend you have a heart) and give what you can. If you were to meet any of the kids in our program you would never say “no”. Please make checks payable to “Volunteers for Youth” and expediently send them to me. Contact me if you do not have my address and I will message it to you. I would like to turn in all my contributions by the first week of July. You will receive a donation acknowledgement for tax purposes. Please note that we are not asking for a new Jungle Gym or playground equipment, we are asking you to help us make a difference in a child’s life. Gus
