As you may have seen, one of the many savings proposals the council has put forward as it looks to save a further £123m over the next five years is to reduce opening times at branch libraries across Wolverhampton. Customers are being asked to have their say by taking part in the consultation into the proposal itself and by completing a short survey where they can choose which possible opening hours they would prefer to see at their local library (should the proposal to reduce hours be introduced, of course). If youd like to complete this survey, please visit surveymonkey/s/WCCLibraryopening. You can read more about the proposal to reduce opening times at the libraries (with the exception of Central Library) at bit.ly/1aqOGQC. Councillor Elias Mattu, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Communities, said: We do not want to see the closure of any of our libraries, but we are having to deal with an unprecedented financial challenge. We have therefore put forward proposals to reduce the number of hours that our branches are staffed and open to the public, which would enable us to make vital savings while, importantly, keeping all of our libraries open at the times when most people want to use them.
