As you may very well may know today marks the 30 anniversary of Princes Purple Rain. Its one of my favorite soundtracks and one of the greatest rock movies IMHO. I was 7 when it came out and I remember my friend at the time Jennifer O Reillys older half brother was a huge Prince fan and I remember making up a dance to When Doves Cry with her and using her brothers cassette copy of the soundtrack to make our dance up. I also remember watching the movie the next year at Jennifers house when it came on cable (her family was the only family on our block that had cable at the time) and her and I giggling at the part when Prince tells Apollonia she has to purify herself in the lake. Since we didnt have MTV and I was too young I didnt get to watch the premier from LA on MTV. So thanks to the magic of YouTube I get watch what I was too young to watch 30 years ago. Its not the MTV footage but its someone elses footage of the red carpet and only Prince could bring together Eddie Murphy, David Byrne, 2 dudes from a hair metal band, Pee Wee Herman, Weird Al and Donna Mills from Knots Landing for one night. And on a side note is the woman interviewed in this footage in the blue Nolan Ryan dress Michelle Lee?? youtu.be/J8oWG2wU9Yk
