The park covered 6,952 hectares (17,180 acres) are composed largely of mixed dipterocarp forest & heath forest (kerangas). This small park recorded has a 237 species of birds, 64 species of mammals, 46 species of reptiles, 20 species of frogs and more than 300 species of ants. The unique topography and environment have made Lambir a major center for rainforest research, with scientists from Japanese and American universities permanently stationed in the park. Picnics at waterfall are famous among the weekend visitors.
