Ashigaru Armour. A suit of light armour from the Tsuyama Castle - TopicsExpress

Ashigaru Armour. A suit of light armour from the Tsuyama Castle collection. Armour like this was kept in the castle for times of war, and could be loaned out to the lower-ranked samurai when needed. Despite this being readied for ashigaru, it is a simple, yet well constructed piece. A simple but effective Okegawa (bucket shaped) Do, with 8 sets of 4 steel-plate Kusazuri slung below. The armour is topped with an 8 plate Suji Kabuto. This, to me, is a well balanced, sturdy looking armour. To have an army of ashigaru fitted in such armour would certainly serve to increase the image of any lord.
