Asm. Manuel Pérez to be honored as 2014 Clean Power Champion 11th Annual Awards event to be held in Sacramento on May 12 (SACRAMENTO) – Assemblyman Manuel Pérez has been named a 2014 Clean Power Champion by the Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technology (CEERT). The award presentation will be made on Monday, May 12 from 5:30-7:30 pm at The California Museum, located at 1020 O Street in Sacramento. A reception will follow. About the award Pérez said: It is truly an honor for my work to be recognized by the Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technology. During my time in the Legislature, CEERT has been an invaluable partner in my effort to enact policies and advance a dialogue that prioritizes renewable energy development in the desert region and the ability to transmit this clean energy to population centers across the southwest. By making the most of local solar, wind, and geothermal resources, we can improve air quality, help the state meet its global warming goals, and stimulate economic development and job creation, while creating potential revenues to address pressing local issues such as Salton Sea restoration. I thank CEERT for this recognition and look forward to the May 12 event. CEERT’s Executive Director, V. John White, also issued the following statement: CEERT is delighted to recognize the visionary leadership and exemplary service of Assemblymember V. Manuel Pérez on behalf of renewable energy, economic development, and sustainable conservation. His legislative achievements and hard work have helped bring thousands of clean energy jobs and billions in investment to Riverside and Imperial counties, and all of California. His vision and leadership have laid the foundation for California’s sustainable, affordable, and reliable clean energy future. We are proud to honor Manuel Pérez as our 2014 Clean Power Champion. Two others will be honored at the event: Kip Lipper, Environmental & Energy Advisor for the California State Senate, and Bob Anderson (1943-2013), former Commissioner of the Montana Public Service Commission and co-founder of the Western Grid Group. The Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies (CEERT) is a nonprofit public-benefit organization founded in 1990 and based in Sacramento, California. CEERT is a partnership of major environmental groups and private-sector clean energy companies that designs and advocates for policies to promote global warming solutions and increased reliance on clean, renewable energy sources for California and the West.
