Assalaamu alaykum Many of you will already know that I am involved in several ongoing beneficial projects such as My Hospice Buddy, Soup & Smiles, Feed-A-Friend, Manchester New Muslim Network, The Narrative, The Awareness Project, Be A Hero - Blood Awareness campaign as well as educational courses for non Muslim about Islam. All of these initiatives are a part of the Myriad Foundation. Earlier this year, we set out to raise a modest £5000 via a GoFundMe page which we hoped would cover our costs over the course of the year and enable us to deliver quality projects that uphold Islamic Values, drive positive social change and share the beautiful message of Islam. Unfortunately the current total doesn’t look too promising – It currently stands at a mere £995. We understand that there are a lot of worthy causes that are also vying for your support and if you’ve already given your share for this year we hope you continue to give and sincerely hope that Allah blesses your efforts. However we’d like everyone to know that it really does take a lot of hard work and effort to take ideas from the drawing board and bring them to life. It is indeed difficult; fighting an uphill battle against a well funded and well resourced tide of Islamophobia, xenophobia and an altogether anti-Muslim agenda and still be able to deliver the true teachings of Islam for everyone to experience. There are costs of materials, overheads, specialist resources and dealing with the limitations that a lack of finance imposes. This work of the Deen isn’t just our work; it’s your work too. It’s a responsibility on us and on you!! With the New Year fast approaching it’s an opportune moment to reflect on the year; the good and the bad. While many will use the eve of the New Year to act in ways contrary to good conduct and righteousness – The Muslim must reflect and take himself to task. There may have been many times we hurt someone or committed acts of sin – both knowingly and unknowingly. It is reported that Muaadh bin Jabal radi Allahu anhu related from the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam that “Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire.” (Ahmad, Tirmidhi) Therefore based on the teachings of Islam we know that sadaqa (charity) helps to purify us from sins. So let’s take this opportunity to give sadaqa for a worthy cause and thereby bless our health, our wealth, our iman and our close relations. “The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.” (Qur’an, 2:261) Therefore we’d like for everyone to really push hard over the next few days....really dig deep...really and truly go out of their way to help us get closer – even break our £5000 target. Yes that’s right...Let’s go for it. We want you, our well wishers and supporters to donate and encourage their friends and family to donate too; as much as you can up till 12 midnight on the 31st of December 2014. If you really love the work we do... If it really matters to you... If protecting your Islam and the Islam of your children in the UK is important to you...Help us reach our target !! gofundme/myriadfoundation
