Assalamu Alaikum My facebook Brothers & Sister.... As promised, during this blessed month of Ramadan I will be sharing with you the Tafsir and translation of the surahs from Juzz Amma. So be on the lookout for the post everyday coming your way through out this month insha Allah.Today we are starting off with the tafsir of Surah An-Nas. Surah An-Nas is a Makki Surah. It is composed of 6 ayahs, and according to the arrangement of the Mushaf, it is surah no 114, and it is the last Surah of the Noble Qur’an. بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ “the Lord of mankind,” their Nurturer and the Rectifier of their affairs.مَلِكِ النَّاسِ “the king of mankind,” that is: their Owner and the Disposer of their affairs.إِلَـٰهِ النَّاسِ “The God of mankind,” that is: the One that they worship.الْوَسْوَاسِ “the whisperer”; this is Shaitan who whispers in the breasts of mankind.الْخَنَّاسِ (one) who retreats, withdraws, falls back; that is: he withdraws when man remembers his Lord.مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ “of jinn and men,” that is: of devils and humans.TafsirIn this Noble Surah, Allah (swt) is teaching us to seek protection from Him, because He is the Lord of mankind, their Nurturer, their Caretaker, and their Provider. He is also their King, their Owner, and their True God who possesses all Attributes of Perfection. To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names and He is the Lord of everything. However, Allah has honored mankind by singling out from all of His creations. We seek refuge in Allah (swt) from the evil of accursed devil and his evil whispers. Shaitan tries to whispers in our hearts to misguide us away from Allah (swt). However, these whisperer withdraws when we remember Allah and seek refuge in Him.This whisperer is not necessarily only from amongst the devils. It is possible that it could be a human, because there are devils amongst jinn as there are devils amongst men. And we seek refuge in Allah from them.Lessons and ReflectionsThese ayahs teach us numerous lessons, including the following:1. They clarify the great status of mankind, as An-Nas have been mentioned in this Surah five times and the words of the Qur’an have been concluded with their mention.2. Man has to have a source of power and might that he can always take refuge in, and there is no one who can provide that to him but Allah (swt).3. When you are suddenly attacked by a hidden enemy who is stronger than you, then seek the help of Allah (swt), the Powerful, Alone for your Protection.4. The Qur’an begins with Surah Al-Fatiha which contains the ayah “You (Alone) we Worhsip, and You (Alone) we ask for help” and it concludes with Al-Mu’awwidhatain. In this way it combines between an excellent beginning and an excellent conclusion. That is the pinnacle of beauty and literary style, because the believing slave seeks Allah’s Help and turns to Him.
