Assalamualaikum My dear bros. and Sis. Our honorable guest Mr. Thar Aye, a Rohingya leader, a Rohingya rights Activist and the director of Rohingya Resources Network (Yangon) has left from Japan yesterday (Nov. 19). We are very pleased to welcome him and very grateful for his visit to Japan for Rohingya minority citizenship cause especially to attend Asian Public Intellectuals Fellowship Program in Hiroshima on 14 November in the program entitled Struggle for Recognition: Rohingya Citizenship in Myanmars Transition where he had a very prestigious presentation on the issue of the increasingly importance of minority citizenship rights in the intensified globalization and democratization, equal rights are denied to Rohingya minority and all Rohingyas are excluded from deserved human rights. On 15 November we (BRAJ) had arranged a program since he was in Japan all the Rohingya community living in Japan would like to greet him, thank him for his hard works for the sake of Rohingya and meet him personally. The meeting or program was successfully accelerated the majority Rohingyas presents in the meeting and the audiences were very cheerful listening the Power Point Presentation of U Thar Aye on the issue of Rohingya history or existence of Rohingya in Arakan since time immemorial, the suffering of Rohingya in the fields of movement, education, health care, marriage, religions, raping, extortion, arbitrary arrest, expelling and land confiscations etc... and the issue of Rohingya Statelessness. And he was interviewed by two reporters of Japan’s leading Newspaper, the Asahi Shimbun (Tokyo and Maebashi Branch) and answered the relevant questions. A meeting was fixed and carried on 17th November with Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan and discussed the related issues of the Conformity of Rohingya ethnicity, Native of Arakan and flow of statelessness by degrading system of government with retrospective effect based on ethno-religion, ultra-nationlism and majority influence as well. Mr. Haroon Rashid, president of BRAJ and Mr. Aung Tin, Head of Information Department also joined in this meeting. Mr. Thar Aye Focused and Appealed to the Japanese Government as follows: 1. Participation of Japan to restore Rohingya ethnicity and full-fledged citizenship crucial. 2. Grant access to Rohingya asylum seekers for legal stay, citizenship rights, education, works etc in Japan. 3. Moderation as mediator for a dialogue among the Government, Rakhine and Rohingya for successive solution. 4. Socio-economic development of all communities including Rohingya in Arakan State. 5. Sought cooperation of Japan to address restrictions such as movement, marriage, higher education, religion and health care imposed on Rohingya since 1993 6. Establishment of peaceful coexistence among the diverse people of Myanmar. Finally, on 18 November, he had visited PFB (Peoples’ Forum on Burma) in Tokyo and presented current situation or status of Rohingya, unaddressed restrictions imposed on Rohingyas, Central and Local Government Action Plan to segregate Rohingya community in Arakan. We are very grateful to him for his important trip to Japan for the cause of Rohingya well-being and we appreciate his relentless hard works to restore Rohingya citizenship rights, equal rights and full-fledge human rights. We would also like to express our gratitude toward him for his support, encouragement and sincere advice for the development of Rohingya community living in Japan. Wassalam Syedul Amin
