Assembly Democrats today asked Republican Rep. Bill Kramer, of Waukesha, to resign after he was charged with two felony counts of groping a legislative staffer in 2011. In a second letter, Assembly Democrats asked Republican Speaker Wisconsin State Representative Robin Vos to “keep open the option of forming an ethics committee to examine potential sanctions” against Kramer. The four-term Assembly Republican has announced that he will not seek re-election in November. Last week, Assembly Republican leaders said they would not begin proceedings to expel Kramer, but any new move to punish him should be led by residents of his 97th Assembly District. The Legislature has adjourned for the year.
