Assertions are little endings. Endings provide feedback about where or who you are. Accurate feedback for a fraction of a second: but anachronistic feedback. It goes quickly out of date. Insecurity requires the feedback that assertions provide. But when you can live a a more nebulous, less solid world it is time to discover the power of declarations. Declarations flex your perception of yourself rather than confirming it. When I hear someone making loads of assertions I feel into their insecurity. There is usually more of it than there are blueberries at our place when the crop is really ripe. Pushing on assertions doesnt work, because it just causes greater insecurity, or mock security. Compassion for a bad case of assertions is more appropriate.
